Our mission & values

Mission

The 350 Washington Network unites 350.org local groups across the state to grow the global, people-powered movement for climate justice.

We organize for widespread systemic change that guarantees a healthy planet for all living beings. We do this by working collaboratively to advance socially equitable and scientifically sound solutions to the climate crisis at the scale and speed necessary to mitigate harm.

Values

We are grounded in solidarity

  • We recognize and honor the wisdom, rights, and cultures of all Indigenous people in Washington State and the sovereignty of all tribal nations

  • We honor our interconnectedness with all life by seeking to respect, protect, and live in alignment with Nature

  • We work for climate justice while seeking to dismantle oppressive, extractive, and exploitative systems that threaten the natural world and the well-being of all life

  • We seek to center the voices of those most impacted by climate disaster, recognizing that BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and other frontline communities are the first and worst harmed

  • We understand that the fights for racial justice, economic justice and climate justice are deeply interconnected, and we build power at these intersections

  • We work alongside young people to defend their right — and that of future generations — to a livable future

We think systemically

  • We seek to hold the fossil fuel industry and other extractive industries accountable for their roles in perpetuating the climate crisis

  • We seek a truly equitable and holistic economic system that values and supports the shared well being of all over simple profit

  • We support sound policies and truly democratic political structures that respect and advance the rights of Nature and all living beings

  • We believe that all transformation requires awareness, education and meaningful efforts at the personal as well as systemic level

We work collaboratively

  • We practice mutual support and the sharing of resources, ideas, and connections

  • We seek collaboration, transparency, and accountability in our work

  • We care for and trust one another, realizing this is long term work

  • We are strategic, creative, and bold in our combined efforts

  • We think globally and act locally

  • We speak truth to power
